New jeweler opens in Charlottetown

A new tenant has opened up shop in the Charlottetown Mall.

Jewelry retailer Michael Hill opened for business earlier this month.

The store has 10 employees, including store manager Kaila Doiron, who is originally from North Rustico and now lives in Charlottetown.

Started in 1979 in New Zealand, the retailer has about 300 stores in New Zealand, Australia, the U.S. and Canada.

Doiron said the business only carries Michael Hill products. Besides the Charlottetown location, the company also has stores in Atlantic Canada in Fredericton, Saint John and Halifax. The Charlottetown Mall store is located in the space previously occupied by Peoples Jewellers.
